Shubla’s jourrey in HR has been one of unlearning, as much as it has been of learning. Her experience in the line HR function started with Gulf Oil in Humbai in 1992 where she was an integral part of setting up the Personnel function. Crossing the floor to consulting, she has worked on her own, and with Cerebrus Consulting. After a stint managing multiple roles across India and Tunisia at SurGard, based in Bangalore, she now runs HR for 114 Books and Publishing, in Chennai, where she brings together her business skills with RR depth to help drive the organisation through a period of intense growth and change.

Sounak is a practitioner of mindfulness and meditation. He first learned meditation at the age of thirteen. Early inspiration came from reading Swami Vivekananda, and the first integration of spiritual practices into work started in the beginning of his career, when he served social sector at the Himalayas. In the year 2006, he was initiated spiritually and continues to be a learner of the spiritual essence of both ancient as well as contemporary teachings from various traditions.
As an Organization, Learning & Leadership Development professional, he has 15 years of diverse experience in multiple industries and roles. He has worked and consulted with organizations such as CRISIL, IMRB International, Azim Premji Foundation, Adventity, ICRA McKinsey Knowledge Center, Nicholas Piramal,Sanofi Aventis and SICO Bahrain.
He led Youth Leadership & Community Development across India, co-founded strategic HR consulting firm, managed nation wide hiring and led Leadership Organization Development for US $ 600 Million Rene Group.
Sounak is management post graduate from IISW & BM, Calcutta and an alumni of Search Inside Yourself (SIY) Mindfulness and Neuroscience based Leadership Prograrn, which was born at Google and designed by world experts in the field, such as Daniel Goleman, Chade-Meng, scientist from Stanford and a Zen master.
He is the founder of ‘Hi Happy Monk!’ a Mindfulness based Leadership, Learning & Organization Development consulting firrn.

In Infosys he managed L & D for more than 40,000 employees around the world. In McKinsey he worked with clients across Asia to increase revenue, reduce costs, enhance customer experience by working on behaviour change.
Using traditional Indian philosophy, art, music and literature, he has improved revenues by as much as 300cr in 2yrs. He partners with mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik on bringing philosophy and mythology into leadership sessions with his own expertise of Indian history.

Speaker’s Profile

Uma is a HR professional with experience in a wide gamut of HR areas over the last 2 decades. She has worked in leading organizations in IT, Manufacturing, Telecom and FMCG space in companies like Tata Consultancy Services, IBM , Mars International India, Idea Cellular, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd,. She has been in leadership positions for the last 15+ years working very closely with business leaders.
Uma has had a fair exposure in public and private sector environments, corporate as well as Industrial relations roles and has worked largely in multi cultural environments with diverse people and thinking. Her international assignments have made her more experienced in the aspect of working with diversity. Currently she works as VP HR at Ashok Leyland Limited, a Hinduja Group Company.
Uma is a post graduate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She is also the L&D Convenor of CII, IWN. Interacting with students, women and young talent is a passion and she mentors a few of them for their development.
